My Name is Steven Morris, I grew up in Monroe Michigan where my father owned and operated a lumber yard. From a young age I spent a lot of time working with my father to maintain the machines and trucks used at the business and I knew being a mechanic was what I wanted to do.
When I reached my teen years I took a job at a local motorcycle dealer as an assembly technician then graduated to a service technician and even a service manager. This job began a love affair with motorcycles that still lasts to this day.
In my early 20's I took a job with a company in Toledo Ohio that specilized in industrial air compressors like the ones found in large manufacturing facilities such as automotive and steel mills. From the first day on the job when I walked into a power house at an auto plant north of Detroit and started working on a 1000 hp reciprocating piston air compressor I started learning about not only how to repair these machines but also how to make new parts for them. Over the years I had the good fortune to work with some very inteligent people who had been in the business for years themselves. After years of working as a field mechanic and traveling I could see that these giants were slowly being phased out of existance, The arrival of the rotary screw compressor meant it was time for another change.
As the technology changed I had to change with it, the rotary screw compressors starting to become the popular choice in many manufacturing facilities and I worked for another company as a field mechanic for almost another 10 years. After 20 years in the business I had become tired of working for others, I felt restrained and not appreciated for my talents. The day when the owner of the company I was working for simplified my job down to "the customer is happy as long as air squirts out of the end of the hose" I knew it was time for a change.
In 2007 and with a few thousand dollars I had saved up I started Morris Machine Services. With a 10 year old service van and a my personal tools I set out to build a business and to offer a better choice for people who need compressed air. One of my first accounts I picked up was a facility that the maintenance department was told they had to cut the buget by 10%, I took on the job and the first year I beat the minimum reduction they asked for while making the compressors more dependable.
As time went on the company continued to grow and the service capabilities expanded as well, from air compressors to pressure washers to building custom units for customers unique needs the strain of these demands were pushing the two car garage that was my shop beyond its limits. In 2015 plans were made for a larger shop to be better able to handle the growth of the business.
In July 2016 the operation was moved from Monroe Michigan to Belleville Michigan and a bigger shop with more equipment. The new 2800 sq. ft. facility allows for doing bigger and more complex jobs. Combind with haveing a great fabricator and machine shop I subcontract with I can now take on repairing things my competitors often say cannot be repiared.
All of this could not be possible without you the customer! As the owner and mechanic you can be rest assured that all of your service requirements will be taken care of when you call me to service your compressor. I am so comfident you will like my service that I do not require you to sign a service contract, I feel if your not happy then please feel free to call someone else.
